In The Pink

I was browsing through some mags and came across a glorious spread in Martha Stewart Magazine (May 2007) titled "Thinking Pink" photographed at her guesthouse in Maine. It makes me want to forget the whole white thing and go to pink and grey - it is so soft and gorgeous - and I'll bet it's flattering for the complexion - perhaps we would all look prettier living in an all pink fabulous fantasy. I noticed a great little contest in Martha Stewart Living August 2010. You send a photo and description of a flea market find and you could win a consultation with the collecting editor - just my cup of tea I think. I have a couple of items in mind. I'll let you know when I get them over to the contest. Wish me luck. Arrividerci.

Vintage Inspiration - Happy Birthday Nelson Mandela

I just watched the film "Invictus" again and realized that Nelson Mandela just celebrated his 92nd birthday on July 18th. What a life he has lead. He spent 27 years in prison in a tiny cell yet his priority since his release in 1999 has been reconciliation. The movie highlights the character and solid inner strength of the man. One of Mandela's inspirations throughout his prison term was the poem "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley. Happy Birthday to a man whose life is an inspiration.

Taking The Plunge.....First Post

This is my first blog post so please excuse me if I'm a little nervous. I'm looking forward to embarking on this journey into blogland. I have been following lovely blogs for ages (mainly about vintage stuff and literature) but today I decided to take the plunge - so here goes.

During the summer we get up very early on a Saturday and hit the garage sales and flea markets. Today I picked up some fun items which will either go to one of Mr VM's mall spaces or I'll take to the Station 8 Sale next Saturday July 24th or to the fabulous Vintage Whites Market on August 21st. I'll be back soon. Arrividerci.
